Description: Perched on the eastern slopes of the mountainous highlands, the Uva Tea growing region is the only region located in the intermediate zone and therefore lacks the abundant rainfall of other tea regions. It endures the harsh winds of both the southwestern and northeastern monsoons and is marked by dramatic elevations, steep drops, and numerous waterways.
The tea from Uva is fascinating, showcasing a beautiful golden hue with a mellow, light body. It’s aromatic, with fresh malty and slightly vegetal notes. Definitely one to have without milk
During the dry months of July and August, the teas of this region experiences a unique transformation and develop "quality season." As rainfall dwindles, moisture becomes scarce and winds funnel through the region, the tea plants are pushed to their limits. In this challenging period, the plants release a special chemical that, during processing, develops into a distinctive menthol flavour—an extraordinary phenomenon not found in any other tea.
